Blue Cross and Blue Shield of MN
Complete restoration of the original roof system was necessary on the main building at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. Complete removal
down to the existing deck, installation of a new fire barrier and modified roof system was then installed by the roofing contractor.
1.
Re-roofing of Blue Cross and Blue Shield main
building at 3535 Blue Cross Road, Eagan MN.
2. Fall support and netting used on the roof to prevent debris from falling off the building.
3. After the roof was clear of debris resulting from the demolition, lighting was installed so that crews could work throughout the night and therefore not disturb BCBS employees during the day.
4. Ramps installed over the existing expansion joint to allow for movement of material without causing damage to the wood expansion joint.
5. Existing vapor retarder over the metal deck. This
vapor retarder was split in a number of areas and
did not act as a true moisture barrier.
6. Removal of the asbestos wrapping at the pipe.
7. Removal of the asbestos wrapping for disposal.
8. Looking straight down into the opening of the deck where the new drain will be attached to the existing pipe.
9. New roof drain installed.
10. Completed SBS roof system.
11. Close-up of the completed roof system on the link way between the main building and tower. Observe the new Kynar coated metal that was installed.
12. Close-up of the formed Kynar coated metal at the Corten steel wall for the tower prior to the Kemper installation.
13. New neoprene installed into the SBS modified
asphalt sealing the joint between the horizontal and vertical portion of the building.
14. Taping off all the seams of the dens deck.
15. Water testing at both the stairwell and link
way roof after roof installation.
