Due to moisture infiltration through the wall, component test cuts were taken which found improper installation of the existing thru-wall flashing and weep system. The resolution was removal of 3 courses of brick above each window. Installation of new thru wall flashing, weeps, end dams and new bricks were installed.
1.
Numerous holes were found during investigation
within the existing membrane allowing moisture to bypass the existing waterproofing and leak into the building.
2. During brick removal, it was revealed that leakage occurred within the walls because the existing membrane was ripped, torn and sliced.
3. Wall openings revealed signs of moisture staining behind the metal lintel.
4. The waterproofing process in progress.
5. Thru-wall flashing and new brick installation
in progress.
6. After removal of the old brick, brackets were used to hold the wall in place and prevent any type of sagging.
7. Close up of the new brick being installed in the middle of the building. This was to assist in the structural stability of the wall.
8. Properly installed end dam that will prevent
any moisture from flowing down the wall and bypassing the lintel.
